It’s a proposal that might worry both fan bases, but something that could really help out each team.

The biggest depth for the Mets is currently starting pitching, with almost too many options to go with in the rotation. Likewise, the Dodgers have an overabundance of outfielders, likely dictating that one or two get dealt before the July 31 MLB trade deadline. Matching up the Mets and Dodgers in these trade rumors almost makes too much sense, even though fans of the respective players might not want to part with these MLB All-Stars.

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, there are also a lot of LA Dodgers fans who have stated they want the team to trade Yasiel Puig. Recent New York Mets trade rumors have also suggested that the team will have to deal some of its pitching in order to acquire a difference-maker on offense. While this deal is something that was cooked up on the set of MLB Network, it makes more sense than a lot of fans want to admit. Both teams would be dealing from an area of strength to acquire a player who could be an All-Star for years to come.

In the latest 2015 MLB standings, it seems very obvious that the Dodgers don’t necessarily have to make a deal before the trade deadline. At 51-39, the Dodgers have a nice 4 1/2 game lead on the San Francisco Giants in the National League West. It looks like the team will easily make the postseason, but could acquiring another top-notch starting pitcher like Jacob deGrom get the team an edge when it comes to match-ups?

The Mets might not be desperate either, trailing the Washington Nationals by just two games in the NL East and being one game out of the second wild-card slot. The question becomes whether the offense is good enough to advance past a first-round series.
