First Look At Leonardo DiCaprio In ‘Django Unchained’
The first images from Quentin Tarantino’s Western, “Django Unchained,” have surfaced online. The “Pulp Fiction” director has kept the action on his set pretty quiet but has now released a few images of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Fox, and Christoph Waltz in their cowboy costumes.
Entertainment Weekly revealed the first photos from “Django Unchained,” which is scheduled to open on Christmas Day later this year.
The costumes are sure to get fans excited for Tarentino’s western (which he calls a ‘southern’) but Fox said that it’s the story that will keep people glued to their seats.
Fox told EW:
“All Django wants to do is get his wife… He’s not trying to cure or solve slavery. He just wants to get his life back.”
Fox also said that Tarantino deals with race and slavery in the new movie in an entirely new way. Fox said:
“There’s a beautiful way [Tarantino] found for the characters to talk to each other. It’s mindblowing. You’ve never heard it this way, You’ve seen movies deal with slavery… (they) do it the safe way. This way is like … wow.”
Waltz and Fox look how you would expect them to look in an old fashioned western. DiCaprio, however, is where you see why Tarantino refers to the film as a “southern.” DiCaprio plays an evil plantation owner named Clavin Candie in the new film.
IMDB summarizes the movie, writing:
“With the help of his mentor, a slave-turned-bounty hunter sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.”
