Megyn Kelly: Planned Parenthood Executive’s Tone Barbaric And Gruesome In Discussing Trafficking In Aborted Baby Parts, Planned Parenthood Apologizes [Video]
Megyn Kelly last night condemned the Planned Parenthood senior executive for that official’s casual, lunchtime conversation about allegedly harvesting aborted baby parts for money.
In an undercover video made by the Center for Medical Progress, a pro-life group, apparently Planned Parenthood’s senior director of Medical Services, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, is seen chowing down on a meal juxtaposed with a conversation about seemingly subverting federal law by trafficking aborted fetal tissue through the organization’s franchise locations.
Whether you find yourself on the pro-choice or pro-life side of the spectrum, or like many Americans in the middle and conflicted about the entire complex and sensitive issue, the footage appears disturbing. Moreover, organ harvesting is a federal felony under the U.S. Code.
In addition to private donations, Planned Parenthood receives millions in taxpayer money to fund its activities.
In yesterday’s press conference, the White House press corps never raised either the Planned Parenthood issue or the Kate Steinle murder with President Obama.
Congress has, however, announced it is launching an investigation into Planned Parenthood as a result of the undercover video of the medical doctor talking about fetal organ harvesting.
In the discussion of the Planned Parenthood video on FNC’s The Kelly File, the former lawyer stressed (see clip below) that she wasn’t taking sides in the pro-choice, pro-life debate. Nor was Megyn Kelly expressing an opinion on the lawfulness of what may or may not be taking place at Planned Parenthood clinics, although she deemed it “legally problematic.”
Kelly’s main concern was the way offhand, disrespectful way the Planned Parenthood doctor (whose Twitter page has now been pulled) talked about the process, “the barbarism of her callous tone… as she discusses the crushing of fetus organs…and trying to get a breached delivery so she could preserve the head for someone to dissect.”
Megyn Kelly continued her discourse about the way the Planned Parenthood official conducted herself during the hidden-camera footage.
“I’m talking about the absence of any humanity on her part as she performs these abortions for the solemnity of the moment and the respect for the potential of human life…she is guzzling wine and stuffing her face full of salad while she talks about the end of a potential life…I’m saying there should be some humanity and respect for the dignity of potential life … the gruesomeness of her attitude is what has resonated with people watching this, even pro-choce people.”
Today, Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards issued a video response to the controversy that included an apology, but also slammed the Center for Medical Progress.
“…The allegation that Planned Parenthood profits in any way from tissue donation is not true… in the video, one of our staff members speaks in a way that does not reflect that compassion. This is unacceptable, and I personally apologize for the staff member’s tone and statements…”
Both Richards and Kelly File panelist Robert Zimmerman, a Democrat strategist, insisted that the Center for Medical Progress video was heavily edited. (Zimmerman took it to an extreme by calling the footage “right-wing porn.”)
The anti-abortion organization has released what it deems the full, unedited footage, however, that runs about two and a half hours.
The pro-life group also told CBS News today that more hidden-camera videos showing Planned Parenthood officials openly talking about selling fetal organs for profit will be forthcoming.
