‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ Will Remain Broken On PC Till Fall – Report
In a report by Kotaku, sources indicate that Batman: Arkham Knight will remain in its unplayable state until at least this fall. This comes from an internal email from the Australian arm of EB Games which Kotaku obtained.
The email from the Australian retailer also includes instructions to return the PC versions of Batman: Arkham Knight to Warner Bros. as the company has been told not to sell them until the PC issues have been resolved. As it stands now, that won’t happen until the Australian spring, which is September-November (Fall in the Northern Hemisphere).
“As previously advised,” reads the internal EB Games email via Kotaku, “we have stopped sales of Batman: Arkham Knight PC while Warner and Rocksteady work on addressing performance issues with the game. The latest information from Warner is that the updates won’t be available until Spring. Due to this we have made the difficult decision to recall all PC stock from stores to return to the vendor until an acceptable solution is released.”
The decision by Warner Bros to sell the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight in this state still boggles the mind. While PC fans might’ve been upset about a delay, most gamers would rather wait and get a playable game instead of buying one that is completely unplayable. While Batman: Arkham Knight for PC may have received a small fix, the game is far from being the quality it should be.
While Warner Bros did apologize for the shoddy PC port, it doesn’t excuse the state in which they released the game. Arkham Knight is the flagship title for those making the argument that PC ports are not treated with the same respect as their less powerful console counterparts. And though the PC version is still a complete train wreck, Rocksteady is releasing DLC to the console versions of Arkham Knight, including the 1989 Batmobile and Batman skin.
Batman: Arkham Knight fans will, unfortunately, have to wait more than a month for the PC version of the game to be fixed. While many fans decided to take advantage of the return policy offered by Steam and other retailers, there are still a few PC owners who held on to Batman hoping that it’ll work soon. The upcoming patch will no doubt be a large one, and there’s no saying exactly when it will be released this Fall. For Rocksteady and WB, they need to make sure this works. Otherwise, Batman: Arkham Knight will truly take the mantle as “most broken triple-A release” since Assassin’s Creed Unity. And you can be sure no one there wants that honor.
