WWE News: Backstage Update On Finn Balor And Sami Zayn’s WWE Main Roster Plans
Last night on WWE NXT, the WWE Universe was given a big answer to the question fans have been dwelling on for months. Since NXT Takeover: Unstoppable, Sami Zayn was sidelined with an injury to his shoulder. Zayn injured it during his entrance for his match with John Cena on WWE Raw. In an earlier report by the Inquisitr, Sami Zayn announced that he will not be back in the ring in 2015.
The former-WWE NXT champion’s surgery was very successful, so that may bring hope to WWE fans and Sami Zayn himself. Kevin Owens took the NXT championship from him, then lost it several months later at Beast in the East to Finn Balor. The script was perfectly written as Balor won the title where he became famous.
For the two WWE NXT superstars, it appears that their careers in the WWE are off to a great start. Even though Zayn underwent surgery, he is still very over with the WWE Universe. That said, WWE officials reportedly have a plan for both stars in the near future.
According to Daily Wrestling News, Finn Balor’s main roster debut might take place before 2015 is over and Sami Zayn could return at the second-biggest event of the year.
“WWE officials see a huge amount of opportunities waiting with merchandising for NXT Champion Finn Balor and have high hopes that his Mattel action figures will kick that off. Balor is still expected to be on the main roster before the end of the year.”
The report goes on to say that there are big plans for Sami Zayn as well. There’s a chance he may return at the 2016 Royal Rumble. Three pay-per-views a year are full of “mark” fans. WreslteMania, SummerSlam and Royal Rumble are those special events. Bringing Zayn back in front of a crowd that adores him would capitalize on a widely-anticipated return.
Would it make sense to bring him back to WWE NXT? There’s a chance that he might return to NXT, especially since he cut a promo on Kevin Owens on WWE NXT last night. Another argument can be made that Owens is on the main roster, which would let WWE fans insinuate that Zayn would go there when he returns.
Big things are happening for WWE NXT and its wrestlers. During the weekend of SummerSlam, the next NXT Takeover event is taking place at the Barclays Center, which will be the site of SummerSlam the night before. Kevin Owens and Finn Balor will wrestle for the NXT championship.
Wrestling fans are also celebrating the fact that the long overdue NXT Divas Invasion finally occurred on WWE Raw. NXT is truly taking over.
