‘The Vampire Diaries’ Heretic Characters Have Been Cast
The three new Heretic characters on hit show The Vampire Diaries have now been cast. They include the show’s first same-sex couple, along with a fun-loving and evil vampire-witch hybrid. The casting comes after the news of the character names broke earlier this month.
With Elena Gilbert gone, room was made for new characters on the show. The Vampire Diaries showrunners Julie Plec and Caroline Dries have opted for three new evil characters, and all are part of Lily Salvatore’s Heretic friends. They were trapped in the 1903 prison world, deteriorating after not drinking blood because it started to run out. They escaped after they fed off Kai while he was trapped there, and he then escaped back to present day Mystic Falls.
Heretics Nora and Mary Louise, the first lesbian couple on the show, will be played by Scarlett Byrne and Teressa Liane. Their characters are extremely protective of each other, and are also very powerful. It looks like Mystic Falls is going to get a big threat if Lily cannot keep control of her friends.
Elizabeth Blackmore will also join the cast of The Vampire Diaries in season seven, according to TV Line. She will play Valerie, who is much more dangerous than the two lovers. She does not want to abide by Lily’s rules of focusing on a peaceful existence with the townspeople of Mystic Falls, and will have a complicated history.
Julie Plec describe the three new additions as “nasty, nasty, nasty girls” at San Diego Comic Con last weekend. They will definitely make life difficult for the Salvatore brothers.
Along with the new characters, most of the original characters are sticking with the show. Since the end to The Vampire Diaries sixth season, there is the possibility of a relationship between Damon and Bonnie growing. The two became friends while stuck in the 1994 prison world, and that friendship is expected to remain. Some fans have wondered whether love is in the cards for two, and plenty of fans have shipped the characters together for a long time.
“The beginning of the season for Bonnie and Damon was the best stuff ever. It was fun and very dynamic. It’s an amazing recipe for a lot of cool drama.”

It will be difficult for the pair, according to Melty. Bonnie being alive means that Elena remains in her sleeping state. Damon considered killing Bonnie towards the end to get his girlfriend back, but decided against it in the end. The two together may help each other deal with their lives and move on after the devastating events of last season.
“I thought it was a really clever way to keep Elena there and keep her presence there and keep the door open in a lot of ways to have her come back. It also creates an interesting dynamic [between Bonnie and Damon] going into Season 7 and the fact that Bonnie is alive and Elena’s not. It’s on Bonnie to stay alive.”
