WWE News: Update On When WWE NXT Star Sami Zayn Is Set To Return To Action
Former WWE NXT Champion Sami Zayn had a great 2014 and great start to 2015. It all seemed to be going well for Zayn, until he sustained a shoulder injury. He made his WWE RAW singles debut against John Cena and put on a fantastic match that got the world talking. People were instantly impressed when Sami Zayn took John Cena to the limit those months ago. Sadly, he was hurt barely into the match and had to end up having shoulder surgery to repair the issue.
The surgery was said to have gone very well, and there was an expected window of 6 to 8 months of recovery time. This seemed relatively normal, but it is still a huge blow to Sami Zayn, seeing as he was set to be called up right after his match with Cena. Instead, his call up went to his friend and storyline enemy, Kevin Owens. Everything seemed to work out as Owens is killing it right now.
Zayn mentioned on WWE NXT on Wednesday that he and Owens will continue to be linked once he comes back. However, he doesn’t know if he’ll be back this year or not. The early prognosis was that he was supposed to be back by November or somewhere close to it. Sadly, that won’t be the case. However, it may not be for health reasons.
According to Daily Wrestling News, there are some tentative plans set out for Sami Zayn and his return to WWE. There is an idea floating around that he won’t be involved with WWE NXT when he returns, which was the idea earlier on. Now WWE is apparently planning for Sami to return at the 2016 WWE Royal Rumble PPV in the Rumble match.
One could deduce that WWE is thinking about having Zayn get some revenge on Kevin Owens for taking him out by taking Owens out of the Rumble match. This could set up a match with the two at WrestleMania 32, which very few would complain about seeing.
There have been a lot of rumors regarding what WWE plans to do with Kevin Owens. It is highly unlikely he faces off with The Undertaker or Brock Lesnar at the show of shows. Facing off with Sami Zayn makes a lot of sense. Both of them put on impressive matches every time they get together. Both are great in-ring workers as well. On top of all of this, the story with the two makes total sense from day one. It is possibly the easiest booking decision WWE has going into WrestleMania 32. Do not be surprised if WWE goes with this. It is highly unlikely WWE is going to have Sami Zayn come in the Rumble to win the whole thing. Chances are, he is only there to play spoiler.
