UFC Champ Ronda Rousey Rips Floyd Mayweather After Winning Best Fighter Award, Says ‘I Wonder How He Feels Getting Beat By A Woman For Once’

It’s been quite a year for the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey. The two fights that she’s had this year have lasted for a combined 30 seconds, and she was named the most dominant athlete in sports by Sports Illustrated, and at Wednesday’s ESPY Awards, she took home the award for Best Fighter, beating out fellow UFC fighter Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Gennady Golovkin, Terence Crawford, and boxing’s pound-for-pound king Floyd “Money” Mayweather.

Rousey, in accepting the award, took a shot at Floyd Mayweather’s history of domestic abuse, saying “I wonder how Floyd feels after getting beat by a woman for once.” Rousey also said “I’d like to see him pretend he doesn’t know who I am now,” which is in response to Mayweather claiming that he had no idea who Ronda Rousey was.

In 2001 and 2002, Mayweather pleaded guilty to two counts of battery against Melissa Brim, and in 2003, he was arrested for fighting two women in a Las Vegas night club. Mayweather’s most recent domestic violence charge came in 2011, where he pleaded guilty and ended up serving two months in jail.

Mayweather being asked about Rousey was spurred by UFC President Dana White saying that Rousey would completely destroy Mayweather if the two of them ever fought. Of course, White was talking about if the two of them ever faced off in the UFC.

Rousey, who is 11-0, is scheduled to fight the 9-0 Bethe Correia in Correia’s home country of Brazil on August 1. Of course, Rousey is the heavy favorite, as she has completely dismantled everyone who has ever stepped inside the octagon with her.

This past May, Correia made things very personal with Rousey, saying that she hopes that Rousey doesn’t kill herself after she loses on August 1 because she wants to give Rousey a rematch, and beat her again.

“I will give her a rematch if she doesn’t cry too much. She can’t take the pressure. I will give her the chance to get the belt back. Please, don’t kill yourself, don’t commit suicide, because I will give you the rematch.”

Correia later apologized for her suicide comment after Rousey blasted her on Twitter. For those who don’t know, Rousey’s father took his own life, which is something that Correia claimed that she did not know.

“Never knew what happened to your dad. I’m humble enough to ask you for forgiveness. Family is a godly bless to me. See you at UFC 190.”

Rousey has vowed to make it a long, painful night for Correia on August 1, saying that she does not plan to finish her quickly like she has all of her other opponents, with the exception of Miesha Tate, who is the only fighter to make it out of the first round with Rousey.
