Shayne Lamas Baby Joy: Former ‘Bachelor’ Winner Welcomes Son With Husband Nik Richie
Shayne Lamas’ baby has been born, as news is out that the former Bachelor contestant has welcomed a baby boy with husband Nik Richie. As fans will remember, a medical crisis led to the reality TV star’s need to use a surrogate for this pregnancy, and her stepmother carried the child.
Closer Weekly shares the details on Nik Richie and Shayne Lamas’ baby. The baby was born slightly after midnight on July 4. Shayne’s stepmother, Shawna Craig, carried the baby for the couple and he is said to have weighed in at 6 pounds, 4 ounces. Sources indicate that the baby was delivered via a natural water birth.
Shayne has shared one photo on Instagram showing her with her princess and prince, but the little guy is bundled up so fans don’t get a full peek quite yet. According to the Daily Mail the baby boy’s name is Lyon Lamas-Richie and he joins big sister Press, 3. Fans of Shayne and Nik know that they had been expecting a baby boy in 2014, but a medical crisis led to the loss of that baby and the inability for Shayne to carry any additional pregnancies herself.
In February 2014, a uterine rupture led to an intense medical emergency that landed Shayne in the intensive care unit for a while. As People shared at the time, Lamas and Richie named the baby Rex Jagger Lamas-Richie.
The couple opened up about the medical crisis and loss during a reunion show for Couples Therapy last September. During the special, Shayne and Nik mentioned how there was another baby on the way, though they didn’t get into the specifics during the show. It was revealed after the special that Shayne’s father’s wife, Shawna, had offered to carry the child for them.
Many remember Shayne from her spin on Season 12 of The Bachelor. She won Matt Grant’s heart, but the two didn’t last for long. After the split, Shayne, Lorenzo, and others in their inner circle starred in one season of Leave it to Lamas. Shayne and Nik met in Las Vegas in April 2010 and got married hours after first meeting.
The couple has hit a fair number of rough patches over the course of their marriage, but they’ve seemed stronger than ever since doing Couples Therapy and going through Shayne’s medical crisis and the loss of their first son. Fans hope that things continue to go well for them now, and everybody is thrilled to hear the news that Nik Richie and Shayne Lamas’ baby boy Lion has arrived.
