Amazon Prime Day: What You Need To Know To Get The Cheapest Prices

Amazon has created their own “Black Friday” day, but for its Prime members.

The online shopping giant is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a frenzy of deals. According to Amazon.com, “Prime Day” is bigger than Black Friday and has a lot more deals. The announcement was posted on Amazon’s Facebook page, where users are flocking to the website for huge deals on electronics and clothing.

Among the products for sale includes cameras, shoes, watches, video games, LED televisions, headphones, tablets, Ray Bans, movies, and more.

However, in order to gain access to these deals, you will need to sign up for a Prime membership — if you don’t already have one. The site will give new users a free 30 day trial, where users can cancel at any time — avoiding the monthly charge.

How To Get The Cheapest Prices

If you are looking for the cheapest of the deals, you will need to visit the front page of Amazon.com and click on the Prime Day top banner. Once there, you will have access to look at all the huge discount deals that are available.

If you scroll down to the bottom, there are even bigger deals with countdown timers — so you better hurry before some great deals are gone.

Now, if you want even CHEAPER deals, use coupon codes. Sites like Groupon, Coupons, RetailMeNot, and ChameleonJohn offer Amazon discount codes that can be redeemed at checkout.

This is a great time to start your back-to-school shopping, as currently there are deals for school products. The Prime Day deals began today at 12:00 p.m. and is expected to continue until 9:30 p.m. PST, USA Today reports.

According to media reports, these are just some of the special deals only available throughout today.

• $30 off a Kindle

• More than 50% off two Nikon CoolPix cameras

• A Chromebook laptop for $199

• 30 percent off select clothing, shoes, and jewelry

• iRobot Roomba Pet Vacuum Cleaning Robot, under $300

• 60 percent off Amazon Elements Baby Wipes with code ELEMENTS60

After hearing the news about Amazon’s discount frenzy, Walmart decided to fire back by announcing new deals to compete with the online shopping giant. However, Amazon is known for its free and quick shipping, something Walmart is not familiar with.

Shipping costs for Walmart products is free, but only if you are checking out a minimum total value of $35. In addition, sites like BestBlackFriday.com are reviewing all the special deals from today, for both Walmart and Amazon.

Have fun shopping!
