Katie Holmes Denies Star Magazine’s Pregnancy Claims
Katie Holmes stepped out for some brunch with friends today, looking pretty rough. Star magazine apparently interprets such things as pregnancy, and asserted that Holmes is indeed expecting her second child with husband Tom Cruise. But Holmes is wise to the tricks of Star, and immediately denied the rumors. Star got it wrong, you see. Holmes isn’t pregnant. And this isn’t the first time the two have crossed paths.
Star said that the 33-year-old Holmes was “struggling to contain the news” and “couldn’t wait to be a mother again.” Holmes and hubby Tom have released statements against the publication, saying that it is completely false. “She is not pregnant. It’s [a weekly magazine report]. Why would they be a credible source. It’s the same publication she sued last year and won,” reps for the actors said today.
“Its false – the [magazine] lied as usual,” they said.
Star and Katie Holmes already have a troubled relationship, with potential underlying animosity left over from last year when Star ran a story claiming that Holmes had long-been in a downward spiral involving drugs that affected her relationship with her husband. Despite the libelous cover, the article inside said that Holmes had been receiving e-meter readings during Scientology sessions in order to “measures her electrical resistance and allegedly reflect her past emotional experiences.” Holmes struck back with a $50 million lawsuit and walked away with an undisclosed (but probably mammoth) sum.
Her lawyers told TMZ that “[Katie] has no intention of leaving her husband, and is not prevented from doing so by any drug addiction,” continuing, “Star Magazine’s malicious claims about Katie are untrue, unethical and unlawful. Not only do they cruelly defame Katie, they play a cheap trick on the public, making ridiculously false claims on the cover unsupported by anything inside.”
Sure, Holmes looked kind of rough today, but come on! Who doesn’t feel like stepping out bereft of any hygienic assistance once in a while? Jumping to pregnancy is a pretty large leap, if you ask me. Well, maybe not for Star.
