The ESPYs will begin at 8 p.m. ET on your local ABC TV channel, or live streaming online in select cities with the free Watch ABC app . This is the 22nd year that the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards will be presented by ESPN. The annual awards show has been recognizing individual and team athletic achievements, as well as other sports-related performance, since 1993. Fans have always voted for the winners , but in 2004, select sports experts were also allowed to get in on the voting. Fans can vote on the official ESPY site until 8 p.m. ET on July 15.
According to Chiff, the 2015 ESPY Awards will be hosted by Joel McHale, the current host of The Soup . The long list of presenters includes Danica Patrick , Vince Vaughn, Britney Spears, LeBron James, Ed Helms, Andre Iguodoba, Kiefer Sutherland, JJ Watt, Mike Epps, and Julie Foudy.
Up for the honor of Best Male Athlete are Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors), LeBron James, (Cleveland Cavaliers), Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), and JJ Watt (Houston Texans).
Nominees for the Best Female Athlete include Ronda Rousey (MMA), Breanna Stewart (UConn Basketball), Lindsey Vonn (Skiing), and Serena Williams (Women’s Tennis Association).
Humans aren’t the only nominees this year, with Triple Crown winner American Pharoah nominated for Best Championship Performance. The race horse is up against Madison Bumgarner (San Francisco Giants), Lauren Haeger (Florida Softball), and LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers) for the award.
According to TMZ , Caitlyn Jenner wants all of her kids and step-kids to be present when she gets the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, but her son, Brandon , may not attend due to his pregnant wife, Leah, being so close to her due date.
