‘American Horror Story: Hotel’ Will Feature Characters From Past Seasons, Kathy Bates Wants ‘Magic Mike’ Star Joe Manganiello To Guest Star [Watch Teaser]
It has finally been revealed which cast members will be playing the new characters when American Horror Story: Hotel hits television screens this fall. The news was revealed during a Comic-Con panel in San Diego that included cast and crew members from American Horror Story and Scream Queens.
Present at the discussion panel were Ryan Murphy, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Evan Peters, and Matt Bomer. Although Murphy didn’t reveal any new footage on the coming season, he did discuss some details about the new characters.
According to Huffington Post, Murphy revealed that the new season will see Paulson as Hypodermic Sally, Peters as Mr. March, Bates as Iris, and Bomer as Donovan.
Despite keeping additional details about Season 5 to himself, Murphy went on to reveal that more characters from previous season would be featured in the new season. “Characters from previous seasons will come back and check into the hotel,” he stated. This news comes in light of an earlier statement by Murphy about how all the seasons were connected with each other in some manner.
Murphy added that even though Paulson has survived each and every season so far in the show, her fate in the new season might be different. This means fans should prepare for a likely death for Paulson at some point in the new season.
Meanwhile, in regards to Lady Gaga’s role in the upcoming season, Murphy stated that her character will be linked with fashion, and that she was currently working with the show’s costume designer to that end. At the same time, he also revealed that Gaga first approached him about playing a role in the new season and how his immediate reaction was to accept her request.
After he told Gaga she would be a part of the show, she asked him for an evil role. “You came to the right place,” he told her in return, adding that there would not be any musical parts for the pop singer. Although music was featured heavily in American Horror Story: Freak Show, Murphy stated he was done with musical numbers after last season.
Elsewhere, when audience members began asking questions during the panel, Bates revealed that she has a crush on a Magic costar of Bomer’s, Joe Manganiello. “Hey Matt. Who’s that Armenian guy who did the dances?” she asked Bomer.
While we know more about some of the characters that are set to be included in the new season, there are still quite a few yet to be revealed. Along with Bassett, who was present at the panel but remained quiet about her role, the news season also stars Finn Wittrock, Denis O’Hare, Cheyenne Jackson, Wes Bentley, and Chloe Sevigny.
American Horror Story: Hotel is set to premiere in October on FX.
