Jimmy Fallon’s Ripped Finger: ‘Tonight Show’ Host Almost Lost His Finger In Freak Accident [Video]
Jimmy Fallon almost lost his finger in a freak kitchen accident. A few days ago, the Inquisitr reported that production on the Tonight Show was canceled after Fallon had to be rushed to the hospital after a mysterious finger accident. While some joked that it must be the salsa accident 2.0, it turned out to be much more serious than that.
Fallon was so happy to be back after a two week hiatus that he “went around the office giving everyone a high four.”
Back in action, Jimmy Fallon explained that he almost had to get his finger amputated. All bandaged up, Fallon explained what went down to the audience. “I tripped and fell in my kitchen on a braided rug that my wife loves, and I can’t wait to burn it to the ground. My ring got caught on the countertop when I was going down, and stuck there and pulled my finger off.”
Even Jimmy didn’t think his ripped finger was a big deal at first. In fact, initially Fallon thought it was just broken. That said, he learned from doctors that he didn’t break his finger, but instead had a “ring avulsion.” The injury required emergency microsurgery so that he could save his finger. That said, the odds of saving the finger weren’t so great, even though he had the best care.
“Apparently the odds aren’t great with these things. Usually they just cut your finger off.”
Fallon shared that his ripped finger took about six hours to put back together. The doctors decided to use a vein from his foot and transfer it over to his finger so they can mend the injury.
“It’s just a crazy story. I won’t get feeling back for eight weeks. I was in the ICU for 10 days.”
Excited to have you back!! Now – I can’t sleep! https://t.co/iUzXJqgvmX

As we mentioned, this isn’t the only time that Fallon injured his hand. In 2013, Fallon said that he cut his finger while making homemade salsa. At the time he said, “I almost cut the tip of my finger off. I went to the South Hampton emergency room. They took care of me right away, but it was scary. The gay said to me, ‘You have a working man’s hand.’ ”
Here’s Jimmy explaining his latest hand injury. Hopefully this is the last hand injury for Jimmy.
