‘The View’ Cast News: Michelle Collins Officially Joins Talk Show
Although it was basically a done deal, Michelle Collins is now officially a part of the gang at The View. The news was announced this morning on the show, complete with confetti. Michelle Collins made her entrance into the talk show with the song “Empire State of Mind” playing.
It’s said that Collins will make her permanent residency on the show in September when The View enters its 19th season. She will join moderator Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symone, and Nicolle Wallace may also return. As the Inquisitr reported, Wallace’s future is still up in the air. It’s not a huge surprise that Michelle Collins is here to stay, as it was basically confirmed on the same day as Rosie Perez announced that she would be leaving the show. That, and Goldberg had made a remark a while back that she wanted to keep Michelle Collins around when it was announced that Raven was sticking around.
Michelle Collins had a statement about joining the show.
“These past few months have been the most fun and exciting of my career, and I couldn’t be happier to join such an awesome, smart, accomplished and funny group of women.”
She continued, “Ever since the age of four (and the height of 5? 6?) it’s been my dream to host a talk show, and the fact that I now get to do just that every day with an amazing, hard-working team of producers, writers, cast and crew is beyond my wildest expectations. Many thanks to the people at ABC for inviting me to be a part of this team, and specifically to the great Barbara Walters and Whoopi Goldberg, whose support has meant the world to me.”
Barbara Walters, who still runs things behind the scenes, had this to say about the new addition: “Michelle Collins brings a fantastic energy and a keen sense of humor to the program. Michelle can be both outrageous and thoughtful. She is a welcome addition to The View panel with her intelligence, quick wit and vast knowledge of pop culture.”
It’s rumored that an old cast member, Sherri Shepherd, may be returning to The View, to revive the show from its slumber aka poor ratings. According to People magazine, it hasn’t been confirmed whether or not Sherri is in the mix for September, but it’s rumored that she might be a “contributor” instead of a co-panelist. Other names being thrown around now are Stacy London and Candace Cameron Bure.
