Nicky Hilton Wardrobe Malfunction, Bentley Bridal Snag Didn’t Cloud Wedding Day
Perhaps lightning does strike in the same place twice — at least for Nicky Hilton in the wardrobe malfunction department.
The hotel heiress had an eventful few days leading up to her wedding to U.K.-based banker James Rothschild over the weekend in London. Hilton, 31, looked amazing and princess-y in her bridal gown on July 10, but Nicky’s special day was nearly a debacle. It’s surprising she didn’t end up a runaway bride over the successive pre- and post-nuptial oops moments.
On the day of Nicky Hilton’s commitment ceremony, a crowd waited outside the swanky Claridge’s Hotel. She emerged clutching a floral arrangement that complemented her Valentino haute couture wedding dress, with an estimated cost of nearly $100,000. Although she channeled the amazing dress worn by Duchess Kate during her Royal Wedding, it was only a fifth of the price tag.
Nicky’s wardrobe was absolutely royal-looking. The frock featured a brilliantly designed lace overlay, an elongated neck, long ornate sleeves, and a 10-foot-long train. The latter is the subject of a wardrobe malfunction (one of two on wedding day) for Nicky Hilton.
As the bride-to-be and her father, Rick Hilton walked to their bridal car that was there to whisk her off to her ceremony, that long and amazing train got stuck underneath a tire of the Bentley limo. Nicky’s neck was jolted for an instant, but handlers raced over to the vehicle and freed the snag. Nicky handled it like a professional and never showed any signs of distress.
After the wedding, Nicky walked with a crowd to the Orangery on the Palace grounds to take photos. During her stroll, Hilton tried gathering up her gown a bit to make her walk less cumbersome. However, she got a bit ahead of herself and showed off her bridal lingerie: Nicky Hilton’s wardrobe malfunction No. 2. Again, her handlers were there to save the day.
The third wardrobe oops took place days earlier. During a Fashion Week event for Versace, Nicky Hilton ascended the steps of the venue donning a rather interesting dress that was replete with strategic golden grommets. With each step she took, it showed off boatloads of skin, especially her exposed derriere. Arguably, it was the wardrobe malfunction of the year.
Before her wedding, Nicky, a fashion designer, said she “always dreamed of a Valentino designed gown on her wedding day.” She sat down recently for an interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“Ever since I was a little girl I wanted Valentino to design my wedding dress. Valentino is the definition of timeless elegance, I don’t think there’s another couture house like it.
I went through every look from their collections over the last 10 years. I studied the archives, and I just sent notes about details I liked — a certain sleeve, a high neckline.”
Nicky’s brother, Barron Hilton, expressed his joy over his sister’s wedding. Instead of poking fun at Nicky Hilton’s wardrobe malfunction, he showered her with a moving post-wedding message on Instagram.
“Words cannot describe how happy I am for my sister. She found the love of her life and a man that I am truly proud to call my brother in law. Love you both.”
With those embarrassing moments behind, hopefully Nicky and James can live happily ever after.
