Joran Van Der Sloot, the man accused of killing Natalee Holloway, is expected to be extradited to the United States.
Van Der Sloot was recently convicted of killing Stephany Flores in Peru. The United States has started the process of extraditing Van Der Sloot so he can stand charges for extorting money from Natalee Holloway’s mother. According to the Huffington Post, the extradition process began this morning.
Van Der Sloot is the main suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Van Der Sloot has not been charged for the girl’s murder but was indicted last year in the United States for extorting $25,000 from Holloway’s parents. Van Der Sloot promised to give up the location of the body in exchange for the money.
Van Der Sloot was recently sentenced to 28-years in prison for the unrelated murder of Stefany Flores. He could see another 5-10 years if he is convicted in the United States. His lawyer, Maximo Altez, said that Van Der Sloot is afraid of extradition because the United States is “very hard” on inmates.
“I think he will be extradited within the next three months. He will go to trial in the United States. Once he is sentenced, he will return to Peru to finish serving his 28 years, and then go back to the States to serve whatever sentence he gets there.”
Are you happy that the United States has started the extradition process for Joran Van Der Sloot?
