From Miley Cyrus To Bella Thorne, Patrick Schwarzenegger To Romance The ‘Scream’ Star In ‘Midnight Sun’
Things are looking up for Patrick Schwarzenegger. The young actor seems to be following in his father’s footsteps and recently landed his first role in a major film. According to Hollywood Life, Schwarzenegger is set to play in the upcoming movie Midnight Sun and will be starring alongside Bella Thorne.
The movie is based on a 2006 Japanese film and centers on the love story between two young adults, played by Patrick and Thorne. Thorne is set to play a young girl named Katie, who has lived the majority of her life in a shelter and has a disease that causes severe reactions to sunlight. For his part, Patrick plays a young man named Charlie, who falls for Katie as the two enjoy an incredible summer of adventure.
While a premiere date has not been announced, production for the movie is set to start in September. The movie marks the first major part for Patrick, who has appeared in several minor roles, including Grown Ups 2 and Stuck In Love.
Apart from being the son of action star Arnold Schwarzenegger, Patrick Schwarzenegger is also well known for his relationship and breakup with Miley Cyrus. With that in mind, Patrick’s new role in the upcoming film will surely allow him some attention of his own, and is a welcome break from his previous associations.
In addition to his role in Midnight Sun, Patrick is set to appear in Paramount’s upcoming movie Scouts vs. Zombies. He is repped by Management 360 and Bloom Hergott.
For her part, Thorne is a Disney Channel alum who is working on a number of new projects, including MTV’s Scream. The actress recently agreed to appear on the AwesomnessTV film Shovel Buddies and is also working on the ABC Family drama Famous In Love, from Marlene King. Thorne is repped by WME and LBI Entertainment.
Midnight Sun is directed by Scott Speer, who is known for his work on Step Up: Revolution. The script is being written by Eric Kirsten.
According to Deadline, John Rickard, Zack Schiller, and Jason Sudeikis are producing the movie, with David Boies, James McGough, Alan Ou, and Hiroki Shirota acting as executive producers.
Boies/Schiller Film Group is set to finance the movie. The company has backed a number of top films in the past, including, Jane Got a Gun, which starred Natalie Portman.
