‘Real Housewives Of New York’ Star Ramona Singer Opens Up About Her Failed Marriage, Plus Andy Cohen Spills Secrets From The Season 7 Reunion
Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer has certainly been through a lot over the years, including suffering through the divorce of her husband, Mario, after 22 years of marriage. In light of the release of her newest book, Life on the Ramona Coaster, Singer sat down with People and discussed the events that led up to her divorce.
Singer explained how she thought that Mario “felt that we were no longer a team” following her rise in reality stardom. In fact, Singer stated that it was her fame that first started the rift between her and her husband.
“It was my success as a celebrity reality star and notoriety that bothered him,” she explained in the interview. “If someone said, ‘Can I take a photo with Ramona?’ or interrupted our conversation at dinner, he would get upset.”
Although he was not happy with how their lives were shaping up, Singer went on to state that Mario failed to do anything about his feelings.
“He could have jumped in but he continued to be passive,” she stated.
With Mario unhappy in the marriage and Singer unable to recognize what was going on before it was too late, Mario began his affair, which eventually led to the couple’s public break up.
“The affair was really a symptom of unhappiness,” Singer explained. “It’s still betrayal.”
Meanwhile, as Singer gets ready for the release of her new book, production for the Season 7 reunion special of Real Housewives of New York recently finished. With that in mind, Andy Cohen shared some of his thoughts about the special.
In an interview with Bravo, Cohen talked about how Luann de Lesseps got into it with Carole Radziwill and Heather Thomson during the reunion.
“Luann was guns blazing and I have never seen her so fired up,” Cohen stated in the interview.
Although the argument between de Lesseps and her fellow co-stars was apparently pretty epic, Cohen also revealed that Singer was the source of the most drama during the reunion special.
“Ramona is known for being he first housewife to walk off a reunion, she was the first to dictate the room temperature at a reunion. She has shut me down and shut me up — but she did something during this one that I have never seen before.”
However, despite all the bickering, Cohen did state that the ladies made some headway in their relationships.
“Almost everyone got through to whom they were speaking,” he revealed.
