With the announcement that Outlander is set to have a panel at Comic-Con this year, fans are eager to find out what spoilers will be revealed about the new season during the highly popular event. With Jamie ( Sam Heughan ) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) moving to Paris, France in Season 2, there are several things that fans hope to learn at Comic-Con.
With Season 2 being based on Diana Gabaldon’s second book in the series, Dragonfly In Amber , one of the main villains in the series will be introduced in Lord John Grey. That being said, it still hasn’t been revealed who will be playing Grey in the series. Hopefully, given Grey’s importance this season and the role he plays in the series as a whole, it will be announced who they’ve cast for the role during the panel at Comic-Con.
Speaking of new characters, both Roger Wakefield and Brianna Randall are set to be introduced in the new season. Roger is a fan favorite and plays an important role in the books, while Brianna is Claire’s daughter, who is introduced this season and appears later in the story as well. With fans still waiting to learn which actors will be playing the roles of Roger and Brianna, a casting announcement for either of these characters would definitely be welcomed news.
At the same time, while production is well underway for Season 2, we still don’t know exactly when the new season will be airing. Although the new season is expected to premiere sometime in 2016, an exact date would give fans a solid idea on how long they’ll have to wait.
Meanwhile, fans won’t have much longer to wait so see what is revealed as Comic-Con is set to take place in San Diego soon, with the Outlander panel slated for a July 11 presentation. The panel will include executive Ronald D. Moore, along with cast members Sam Heughan, Caitriona Balfe, and author Diana Gabaldon.
With the first season of Outlander being such a big hit — drawing some 4.9 million viewers, according to Deadline — the appearance at Comic-Con is sure to draw quite the crowd. Given the star power present at the panel and the event’s popularity, the show should be ready to answer a number of questions many fans still have concerning the new season. At the very least, some of the casting news should be revealed along with a solid premiere date.
