Keith Thurman Fights This Saturday Against Luis Collazo, Calls Out Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
Fighter Keith Thurman, 26, is arguably one of the best boxers in the sport today. With a record of 25-0 to go along with 21 knockouts, it’s highly understandable why Thurman has earned the nickname “One Time.”
Some people might say that Keith hops on his bicycle too much when he’s in the square circle, but those are the same people who don’t truly understand the sport. Boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, not standing toe-to-toe, seeing who can bloody up their opponent the worst.
The Ring rates Thurman as the fifth best fighter in the welterweight division (147 lbs.), while ESPN places him fourth.
On Saturday, Keith faces journeyman Luis Collazo (36-6) in the first Premier Boxing Champions fight to be broadcast by ESPN.

Thurman stated that he is not overlooking the fight with Collazo, though he has repeatedly thrown his hat in the ring to be Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr.’s last career opponent. Keith has been calling out Floyd for a while now, claiming he’s all about the money (as his nickname would suggest) and not at all about his legacy, per Yahoo.

“As soon as that man nicknamed himself ‘Money’ it’s apparent what his interest is. It’s money. Not legacy, not anything else man. He’s all about the money. He wants to throw out a name like Karim Mayfield man? Like you know what I’m saying? Look at his record, look what he’s done. And you want to say Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman isn’t ready?”
Thurman might make a solid point, seeing as how Mayweather (48-0, 26 KO’s) has said his ultimate fight will take place against either Andre Berto or Karim Mayfield, as the Inquisitr noted.
At the same time, neither Mayfield nor Berto will bring in anywhere close to record setting financial numbers, which is why Floyd is possibly considering having the fight take place on CBS, rather than Showtime PPV.
“I’ve told y’all I’ll go fight Marcus Maidana. I’ll go following in the footsteps of Floyd — I’ll go fight Manny Pacquiao! I’ll fight the world man! I told y’all second time I was on HBO, they said, ‘Who do you want to fight?’ Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman wants to fight the world. We are here, in the world of boxing, and I’m trying to dominate. It’s plain and simple man.”
Here is Keith’s reaction to Mayweather telling him who he needs to fight.

Since Mayweather’s last bout is set to take place on September 12 of this year, it means Thurman would have exactly two months to prepare for the fight if his name is called.
In all likelihood, boxing fans will forever be deprived of a “Money”/”One Time” matchup since the chances of Floyd fighting for a 50th time in a rematch against Manny Pacquiao come 2016 are very high, because that’s where the true money really sits.
