Is one of Superman’s biggest foes set to make an appearance in the upcoming film, Suicide Squad ? A recent tweet by David Ayers has re-ignited the idea that Lex Luther might be set for a cameo in the new DC Comics adaptation.
Ayers tweeted an image of Scott Eastwood sparring with someone who looks like Jesse Eisenberg, who will be playing Luther in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice . Ayer’s message with the photo simply stated “Training.” If Eisenberg is the person depicted in the photo, it might add support to the idea that the infamous villain will at least play some part in Suicide Squad .
According to Latino-Review, Luther’s role might be a little larger than just a small appearance. Luther may be introduced after Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) finds out that Luther is expanding his business into the human trafficking of super humans. Waller then forms the group of villains, named Task Force X, in order to prevent Luther from continuing his actions, which means Luther might have a larger role in the film than previously thought.
While it isn’t known if Luther will be in the film or not, there are quite a few villains that will be a part of the new movie, including Deadshot ( Will Smith ), The Joker (Jared Leto), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), and Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney).
Speaking of Captain Boomerang, Courtney recently sat down HitFix during the promotion of his newest movie, Terminator Genysis , and talked about his role in Ayer’s movie. As part of his preparation for the role, Courtney grew out his facial hair so that he could explore a few options with the character when it comes to different hairstyles.
However, Ayers already knew what he wanted Captain Boomerang to look like, and one day prior to filming the director started “attacking” Courtney with an electric trimmer while he was in the makeup room. After Ayers was finished with Courtney, the actor was left with a pronounced mustache to go along with a set of uneven mutton chops.
Although Courtney didn’t seem to be able to stop itching his face during the interview, he did state that he didn’t mind the look.
“Liking it?” Courtney stated when asked if he enjoyed his new look. “I’m alright with it. I’m ready for it to go,” he said, pausing before adding “It could be worse.”
Suicide Squad is set to hit theaters on August 5, 2016.
