‘Untouchable Power Corrupts’: Serial Killer Doctor Michael Swango Is Focus Of Investigation Discovery TV Series Premiere Tonight
Untouchable Power Corrupts, the new crime TV series, will air the case of Dr. Michael Swango on Investigation Discovery tonight. Untouchable Power Corrupts will profile cases of people who held jobs in powerful positions, but abused that power by committing cold-blooded murders. The 60-minute documentary will focus on how tenacious cops eventually brought these high profile criminals to justice. Tonight’s episode features the compelling story of Dr. Michael Swango, an American serial killer who is suspected of killing at least 60 people between 1981 and 1997. Michael Swango, who is now known as the “doctor of death,” is serving three consecutive life sentences for his chilling crimes. Untouchable Power Corrupts is produced by Our House Media, according to The Internet Movie Database (IMDB).
Untouchable Power Corrupts — Synopsis of Episode 1
Tipped off by a nurse who suspects that the new doctor is responsible for the sudden deaths of several patients, law enforcement officials dig deep into his background and find that the “good doctor” has a dark past. But in order to arrest him, they have to find him first. Police investigators are hot on the trail of a charismatic doctor who leaves a trail of bodies at every hospital where he has previously worked.
The story of Dr. Swango is one that is entangled and overlaid with many stories. It seems that everyone who had contact with Dr. Michael Swango, aka Joseph Michael Swango, has a different story to tell. There have been several documentaries that have focused on certain stories in Dr. Swango’s large case file. One of the best documentaries that profiled the case was the Unsolved Mysteries episode. It appears that the producers of Investigation Discovery’s Untouchable: Power Corrupts decided to follow the same angle.
According to Broadway World, tonight’s Untouchable Power Corrupts will feature the stories of a gymnast who died in a hospital in Ohio, the death of a cancer patient in a hospital in New York, and a crew of paramedics who say that Dr. Michael Swango fed them poisoned doughnuts in Illinois.
As a side note: A Lifetime movie called A Daughter’s Nightmare focused on the supposed suicide death of Dr. Michael Swango’s ex-girlfriend, Kristin Kinney, who was found dead in a park. Kinney’s mother suspected that her daughter’s boyfriend had been poisoning her. It isn’t clear if tonight’s episode will include her very tragic story.
Be sure to change the channel over to Investigation Discovery (ID) every Thursday night at 9 p.m. / 8 p.m. central to watch Untouchable Power Corrupts. And don’t forget to interact with other #IDAddicts on Twitter after tonight’s season premiere.
