Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard recently headed off to a mystery location to do missionary work, and Jill’s family decided to say goodbye the only way they know how — they all gathered around in front of a camera.
The video of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard saying their goodbyes was posted on the Duggar Family website yesterday. The awkward video definitely doesn’t look or sound like it was filmed by the 19 Kids and Counting camera crews, and about half of Jill’s massive family is missing from the Duggar production. Jessa Duggar, Josh Duggar, and all of the older Duggar male children don’t appear in the farewell video, but it’s possible that one of the absent Duggars is manning the camera. As you can see, Joy and Jenni have the toughest time saying goodbye to Jill.
It’s fairly obvious that Jim Bob Duggar is suffering from severe camera withdrawal. His lengthy goodbye to Jill and Derick feels like a speech staged for an episode of 19 Kids and Counting , and he makes things awkward by trying to interview Derick about his dead dad. As the Inquisitir previously reported, TLC still hasn’t decided whether it’s going to air another season of the Duggar family’s reality show. After Josh Duggar confessed to sexually molesting Jill Duggar, Jessa Duggar, and two other unnamed sisters, the network promptly pulled reruns of 19 Kids and Counting from the air.
In the goodbye video, Jim Bob seemingly references the Josh Duggar molestation scandal when he says that “people can be forgiven for the things they’ve done wrong.” This is an odd thing to say during a prayer that’s supposed to be about his daughter and son-in-law going on a mission trip.
Perhaps Jim Bob set up the Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard farewell video in a last-ditch effort to save his family’s reality show. He could use its YouTube views (currently over 140,000) to show TLC execs that the Duggars still have plenty of fans who want to keep up with all their big life events. He makes sure to tell Jill and Derick that he and the rest of the Duggars plan on visiting in the future, and he’s probably hoping that the 19 Kids and Counting camera crews will be with them when they do.
Unfortunately, things aren’t looking too good for the future of 19 Kids and Counting . The Duggar Family News: Life Is Not All Pickles and Hairspray Facebook page shared a photo of Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard at the airport, and there’s not a TLC camera in sight. The couple appears to be at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, and Pickles and Hairspray points out that the Duggars usually use the Texas airport when they fly to Central America .

Jill and Derick said that they don’t want to reveal where they’ll be living because of security concerns , and they haven’t revealed exactly how long they expect to be gone. However, Jim Bob drops a hint about the length of Jill and Derick’s trip when he says that he won’t see them for “several months.”
Why do you think Jim Bob decided to film the awkward farewell video for Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard?
