Ronda Rousey Promises Bethe Correia Will ‘Walk Out Looking Different Than She Did Walking In’ At UFC 190
In just over three weeks, Ronda Rousey will step back into the Octagon to face off against Bethe Correia at UFC 190, a fight that has become more anticipated as it gets closer to happening.
The reason why the MMA community is looking forward to this battle is because of how personal Bethe Correia made it for Ronda Rousey. Prior to their match becoming official, Correia took out both Jessamyn Duke and Shayna Baszler. They are both Rousey’s friends who she considers “family.” Rousey took it personally that Correia singled them out just to get to her. Not only that, Correia mocked Rousey in which she jokingly used a line associated to suicide. Rousey’s father committed suicide when she was young. That makes the statement to the “Rowdy” one very insensitive. And for those who bring up that Correia probably did not know about Rousey’s father, it should be known the former has commented on other parts of the latter’s life, including eating disorders and drug use.
Bethe Correia has taken Ronda Rousey to a mental place the MMA community has never seen. For the first time, “Rowdy” wants to drag out her fight so she can inflict as much pain to “Pitbull” as she possibly can. And if some thought Rousey was just hyping the fight, she promised that Correia will “walk out looking different than she did walking in.”
According to MMA Junkie, Ronda Rousey appeared as a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to discuss her upcoming fight with Bethe Correia. In the midst of her interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Rousey made it clear that “fast fights” are only done with opponents she likes and respects.
“If I make the fight fast, that means I like you. She got to go home and do whatever with, like, a payment to buy a house. She had a great night if you think about it. But with this next chick that I don’t like, it’s not going to be like that. She’s going to walk out looking different than she did walking in.”
It also seems like Ronda Rousey wants to humiliate Bethe Correia as well as hurt her. That is why Rousey is happy the fight is happening in Brazil, Correia’s home country.
“The thing is I just want to beat her in the most devastatingly embarrassing way possible. I’m not afraid to let go of the hometown advantage. She’s much more than a hometown advantage away from beating me.”
The entire interview Ronda Rousey had with Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live! is attached below. The part when Rousey explains that short fights are for fighters she likes is at the 7:10 mark. As for Rousey wanting to “devastatingly embarrass” Correia in her home country, it is earlier at the 2:30 mark.
UFC 190: Rousey vs. Correia happens on August 1, 2015, at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At this moment, fight bout order and times have not been set up. If it is like past premium events, the main card will start at 10 p.m. EST/7 p.m. PST, exclusively on pay-per-view.
