Billy Joel Marries Alexis Roderick On Independence Day, Roderick Is Joel’s Fourth Wife
Is the fourth time the charm for Billy Joel? On July 4, 2015, Billy Joel said “I do” for the fourth time to his new wife Alexis Roderick. Every July 4, Billy Joel hosts an Independence Day party at his home in Long Island, New York. This year, friends and family were in for a surprise.
Billy Joel and Alexis Roderick shocked all the guests at the party with a surprise wedding. Officiating the wedding was New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Joel and Roderick have been dating since 2009. Roderick is currently pregnant and is expected to give birth later this summer. The couple found out that they will be having a daughter. Christie Brinkley, ex-wife of Billy Joel, posted well wishes for the newlyweds on Instagram.
“Congratulations to the glowing bride and groom.. And to my daughter Alexa, who has a wonderful friend in Alexis! Wishing the growing family every happiness!”
At 66-years-old, Billy Joel has been married four times. His first marriage was to Elizabeth Small in 1973. The couple divorced nine years later in 1982. In 1985, Joel married supermodel Christie Brinkley. The couple had a daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, Billy Joel’s only child. Brinkley and Joel divorced in 1994 after 19 years of marriage. Ten years later, in 2004, Joel once again found love and married Katie Lee. When the couple got married, Lee was 23-years-old. That made her only five years older than her step-daughter Alexa. The marriage only lasted until 2009.
It was shortly after the divorce to Katie Lee that Billy met Alexis. In a 2010 interview with the New York Daily News, Alexis spoke briefly about meeting Billy Joel in a restaurant in Huntington.
“He was going to dinner. I wasn’t and we were friends for a while before we started dating.”
With this being the fourth marriage for Joel, people on Twitter decided to poke fun at the couple as opposed to congratulating them.
