Report: Indianapolis Colts Tell Andrew Luck He Is Their Guy
The report would seem to confirm what Colts general manager Ryan Grigson told reporters Wednesday. Luck will be their first #1 draft pick in more than 14 years.
Grigson told a news conference,
“We’ve known for a little while. We’ve done all our due diligence. Unless there’s an unforeseen problem or something like that, we know what we’re doing.”
The Colts and Redskins both lined up to select their future quarterbacks. The Colts needed to fill the hole when Jim Irsay released All-Star Peyton Manning last month.
But regarding the top two picks, don’t expect any last-minute surprises.
Even last year Luck was expected to go Number 1. Like Peyton Manning Luck stayed an extra year in school to finish his degree. The similarities don’t end there as Luck also finished as runner up to the Heisman Trophy and also had a famous father who was a quarterback, just like Peyton Manning.
Luck has had a personal workout for the Colts and traveled to Indianapolis for a personal interview. The Colts sent a large contingent of scouts and managers to watch Griffin also work out but that doesn’t mean much.
Griffin was advised by his agent to not go to Indianapolis for a private session, apparently, it wasn’t the only reason Griffin didn’t come to town.
Grigson said.
“You get to a point where you know what you’re going to do,”
