‘Arrow’ Season 4 Official Synopsis, Plus Stephen Amell Says ‘The Arrow Persona Can’t Exist Anymore’
Season 4 of Arrow may still be a few months away from airing, but that hasn’t stopped the spoilers from pouring in. Although Oliver Queen came out on top last season after crushing his biggest enemy so far and leaving Starling City with his girl, Felicity Smoak, the official synopsis hints that Oliver might have a hard time leaving his past behind him.
In fact, Stephen Amell told TV Line that Oliver is in fact done with being the Arrow.
“Roy outed himself as the Arrow, so if I were to re-create the suit and go out, it would undo all of the sacrifice that he made. So the Arrow persona, for better or for worse, it can’t exist anymore.”
While fans wonder if Oliver will be able to leave his former life behind, his team of friends, which includes Diggle, Thea, and Laurel will be plenty busy keeping things straight in Starling City. In regards to Diggle, David Ramsey recently revealed that his character is willing to step it up to a whole new level in the coming season.
“Diggle will have some sort of steel smith slash armor thing going on next season,” Ramsey told DC Entertainment. Ramsey went on to add that Diggle would not be changing his name when he wears his new suit. “He’s John Diggle… He don’t need no damn name,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Carter Matt is reporting that a new character will be introduced in the fourth season. The newcomer is a mysterious individual from Moira Queen’s past. Little is known about the new character, except that Oliver and Thea will meet her at some point. Her name is Patty, she has aspirations to become the Starling City Mayor, and the part still hasn’t been cast.
The one interesting part about Patty is whether or not she will reveal any of Moira’s past to her children. The pair were close friends for a long period of time, so Patty will certainly have some things to say about H.I.V.E.
Elsewhere, another new character will grace Arrow as a formidable match for Felicity. The new character is an ultra-tech geek whose skills are on the same level with Felicity. It is not known if the new character will be working for or against Felicity, but it is possible that the character is working H.I.V.E.
If the new character is going up against Felicity, at least she has some experience on the fighting front to draw from. Felicity had to deal with the Bug-Eyed Bandit last season, and if she learned anything from that encounter then she should do just fine against the new threat.
Here is the official synopsis for season 4, courtesy of Den Of Geek.
“After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, bent on righting the wrongs of his family and fighting injustice. To do this, he created the persona of the Arrow and allied himself with former military man John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), billionaire inventor Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), lawyer-turned-vigilante Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), and his sister Thea (Willa Holland). Uneasy alliances and rivalries will shift as Oliver faces his most difficult challenge yet.”
Season 4 of Arrow is set to premiere October 7 on the CW.
