Caitlyn Jenner’s new reality show, I Am Cait , premieres July 26, but there is speculation that she may have another TV gig in the works, one that could inspire others to reach for the stars. Dancing with the Stars , that is.
DWTS pro-dancer Cheryl Burke recently told Entertainment Tonight that it would be “amazing” to have Caitlyn as a contestant on the upcoming season of the popular ballroom dance competition.
Caitlyn wouldn’t be the first Keeping Up with the Kardashians star to dance on the show. Rob Kardashian danced his way to a second place win with Cheryl Burke on Season 13, and Kim lasted six weeks with pro-dancer Mark Ballas on Season 7.
Not only does Cheryl think Caitlyn should join the show, dancers Tony Dovolani and Val Chmerkovskiy both support the idea. Tony tells talk show host Wendy Williams that Caitlyn is “going to be inspiring a lot of people” and she should “absolutely” join the DWTS cast because “we’re ground-breaking people.”
“For Bruce to expose himself and become Caitlyn and all that in such a public way, I think she’s going to be inspiring a lot of people out there.”
As for Val, who recently won the Season 20 Mirror Ball trophy with Rumer Willis, he tells In Touch Weekly that he would be Caitlyn’s partner “for sure” and he’d be “in it to win it.”
“I’ll be Cait’s partner for sure. I’ve proven I can win the show, and I would love to have an opportunity to win it with somebody that no one else believes can do it. As long as you have the right energy, I am in it to win it.”
The next season of Dancing with the Stars premieres September 14, so it’s likely ABC won’t announce the cast list until late August or early September. However, with Caitlyn’s inspiring story and her love for a great dress, it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see her on the dance floor this fall.
Meanwhile, Caitlyn is keeping herself busy preparing for the premiere of her new docu-series, I Am Cait , and was recently spotted filming future episodes of the show at events like Pride in New York City . Before the season premiere of her new show airs on July 26, Jenner will appear at the ESPYs on July 15, where she will be presented with the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
