Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Opens Up: Speaks Candidly About Home Life, Girlfriend Lauren Hashian, And Daughter
In a recent interview for the Esquire magazine, The Rock opened up about his home life.
Dwayne Johnson, or as the world refers to him, “The Rock,” has kept his private life, well, private. However, the multi-talented WWE-wrestler-turned-actor talked candidly about his home life, revealing details about his lovely girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, and his daughter, Simone.
After splitting from his wife of 10 years, Dany Garcia, with whom he had Simone, now 13, the rock found companionship in Lauren Hashian, revealed the 43-year old.
“I’ve lived with my longtime girlfriend, Lauren Hashian, going on, like, eight, nine years now. We do these stories and we talk so much about the business end, the success end, but then Lauren isn’t mentioned and my daughter isn’t mentioned. I always like making sure we find the balance and my home life is in there and Lauren Hashian is in there and my daughter is in there. You gotta get the better half in there. With all the cool s**t and success that I’ve been lucky enough to get? That doesn’t happen unless the home life is solid.”
After playing Luke Hobbs in The Fast and the Furious franchise, The Rock had nothing but deep admiration for his co-star, Paul Walker. Johnson, along with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, had been inseparable till the untimely death of Walker. Speaking about such lows, The Rock opened up how his family helped him sail through the tough times.
“When I first came into acting, I had great opportunities to make a decent movie. I had a run there in 2005, ’06, ’07 — for a long time it was ‘Oh, he’s the best thing in the movie that’s not that good.’ I started questioning: Did I make the right choice? Should I have stayed in wrestling a bit longer? And then budgets became lower and lower and the pay kinda stayed the same and there wasn’t a lot of growth.”
Fortunately for Johnson, the good times have started to roll. All his latest projects, including San Andreas and Furious 7, have done well at the box-office. The Rock is set to star as Spencer Strasmore, a retired NFL star who is trying to reinvent himself as a suave financial guru for current football players in Ballers, a TV series set to air on HBO. The Rock revealed it was his dream role.
“It is such a wish fulfillment role for me, because I — literally, the life that Spencer Strasmore has is the life that I wanted. When I was 15 years old, I wanted to be a pro football player.”
That’s not all. The world will hear The Rock singing (yes, singing) in Disney’s animated musical, Moana.
