Jake Gyllenhaal’s new film Southpaw is not slated for release until late July. However, a music video teaser and a new trailer has already come out ahead of time.
While some reports are calling the video another Southpaw trailer, it’s obvious that it’s also for Eminem’s new music video. The rapper is back and teasing fans with a 30-second video , which looks like it’s from the Southpaw film, starring actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
“Phenomenal” is also expected to be featured in the new Jake Gyllenhaal movie and soundtrack. The Southpaw soundtrack will be released everywhere on July 24, the same day that the film hits theaters.
Eminem is expected to premiere the new music video for “Phenomenal” on July 3. The rapper also tweeted that Apple Music listeners will also have first dibs on the new music video. Eminem is the Executive Producer of the Southpaw soundtrack, which also includes the track “Kings Never Die,” featuring Gwen Stefani.
According to Flickering Myth , a new trailer for Southpaw has already been released. Contributor Gary Collinson gave a sypnosis on the film.
“From director Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY) and writers Kurt Sutter (SONS OF ANARCHY) and Richard Wenk (THE MECHANIC) comes SOUTHPAW – the story of Billy ‘The Great’ Hope, Junior Middleweight Boxing Champion of the World. When tragedy strikes and he loses it all, Billy enters the battle of his life as he struggles to become a contender once again and win back those he loves.”
The new trailer also features Eminem’s new single “Phenomenal.” Check out the video below for yourself.
Jake Gyllenhaal has been actively promoting his new film all over the media. He recently told Esquire magazine as to how he had to get physically and mentally prepared for his role.
“Physicality is a way into the mental state of a character. I get off on knowing that my energy has shifted. My technical side is going, ‘Yeah, you’re a bit of a maniac, but you know how to keep it in check.’ But it’s not like this huge deal. It’s that Louis CK thing, [about] when people say they’re ‘starving.’ Maybe you should rethink that word? You had a meal four hours ago!”
As Gyllenhaal started out at the moon, he talked about science relates to acting. For him, it’s like stepping into an unknown environment.
“[If] you spend enough time in whatever environment your character would exist in… then the molecules of that environment must transfer somehow. And then you put it on screen, and people go, ‘I feel something that I don’t normally feel.’”
In strange style, Jake Gyllenhaal further explains what he means by using science.
“I believe deeply in the unconscious. That you literally accumulate the molecules of the space that you’re in. We’re like 90 percent water, so naturally we are going to be affected by the moon when it’s full: if the sea is, why wouldn’t we be? That seems scientific to me.”
