Eva Longoria is opening up about what she thinks of Donald Trump’s derogatory comments about Mexicans. Longoria, who has been proud of her heritage, and often celebrates her culture, said that Trump should expect the backlash that he’s currently receiving from NBC and people alike.
Longoria weighed in on the situation at the National Association of Latino Independent Producers summit. At the time Eva said, “What I don’t think he understands and what people don’t understand is words create emotional poison. That’s what they do, they create emotional poison.”
She continued, almost comparing him to Hitler. “Hitler moved a nation with words, just words. So you have to expect this backlash. If you say something like that, as he has said, you must expect a backlash.”
Even though she’s a very open Latina, Longoria said that she was leery about talking about Donald Trump because she didn’t want the Presidential candidate to have any more attention than he already has.
“It struck a cord within our community that touched our emotions so deep that I don’t want to contribute to that poison being spread because if I contribute, it’s just going to bring even more attention to the original comments.”
As the Inquisitr reported NBC announced that they’re cutting ties with Donald Trump after his remarks about Mexicans. Hispanic groups called for NBC to sever their business with Trump, and they responded by doing just that. The network will no longer air Donald’s Miss USA pageant or Miss Universe pageant.
NBC made a statement about their decision saying , “At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. “Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump.”
Trump responded by saying, “If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court.”
The latest on Trump vs NBC comes from this tweet made recently:
My just filed lawsuit against Univision. Always fight back when right. #MakeAmericaGreatAgain https://t.co/ies96YzSeG

During his presidential candidacy speech, Trump said that Mexican immigrants are “bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists and some, I assume, are good people.”
