Pierce Brosnan Is A Grandfather (Again): 90’s-Era James Bond Welcomes Third Grandchild
Pierce Brosnan is a grandfather once again!
The suave Irish actor, perhaps best known for his four appearances as James Bond in the 1990s and 2000s, welcomed his third grandchild on Monday, the Arizona Republic is reporting.
“My darling Sean With his baby girl Marley May Cassandra what utter joy to be her grandpa… beautiful life”
Sean — the baby’s father — is Pierce’s son from his first wife, Cassandra Harris. Sean is Pierce’s only biological child from his marriage to Cassandra; Brosnan adopted Cassandra’s two children from her first marriage, Christopher and Charlotte, after their father died. Cassandra died of ovarian cancer in 1991.
In a 1997 interview with Cigar Afficionado, Brosnan spoke about what Cassandra meant to him.
“When your partner gets cancer, then life changes. Your timetable and reference for your normal routines and the way you view life, all this changes. Because you’re dealing with death. You’re dealing with the possibility of death and dying. And it was that way through the chemotherapy, through the first-look operation, the second look, the third look, the fourth look, the fifth look. It came with a certain grace. Actually, life was sweet. Life had an incredible peace to it. Because you cherished every moment.”
Charlotte gave Pierce two other grandchildren, Isabella and Lucas. In 2013, when Isabella was 15 and Lucas was 9, Charlotte died of ovarian cancer – the same disease that had claimed the life of her mother, Cassandra, 22 years earlier. She was only 42.
Brosnan and his second wife, Keely Shaye Smith, married in 2001. The couple have two children: 18-year-old Dylan and 14-year-old Paris.
In fact, this has been a big week for Pierce Brosnan as far as his sons go. While Sean was becoming a proud papa, son Dylan was making his debut as a model at the Yves Saint Laurent show in Paris.

These days, Pierce Brosnan keeps busy being a dad to two teenage sons (as well as a grandpa). And while his acting career is thriving (look for him to play Louis XIV in The Moon and the Sun later this year), the former Remington Steele star also paints and works on his charitable and political causes.
