There is now one less Lamborghini Aventador in the world after one of the expensive luxury cars was spotted over the weekend engulfed in flames on the side of a California highway.
The driver in this particular case was lucky as he won’t have to foot the bill since the car was being taken out for a test drive.
Jalopnik reports that the driver was an “internet millionaire” who was taking the wickedly fast car out for a test spin when the car suddenly lit on fire. It’s unclear what caused the fire but according to the initial report the “left rear wheel” was engulfed in flames.
According to experts that means the fire probably wasn’t collision related. Videos and photos taken at the scene of the accident appear to confirm that no other vehicles were involved in the Lamborghini’s fire.
Lamborghini said that they aren’t sure what caused the fire but they are “trying to figure out what happened.”
The prospective owner of the car posted a photo of himself standing next to the smoldering piece of metal and he looks pretty calm despite the fact that he just wrecked a $375,000 car.
The super expensive sports car is able to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds, at this time it is still unclear how fast the car was traveling before the tire burst into flames.
Here’s a video of the Lamborghini fire.
Paultan.com reports that the first run of Lamborghini Aventadors will be limited to 4,000 units.
