Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake Team Up in Gambling Thriller
Ben Affleck has scored yet another acting role, and this time it’s alongside rising actor Justin Timberlake, who has proven to be a box office pull in hits like Friends With Benefits and Social Network.
Ben Affleck’s last acting role was given to him by, well himself, in the highly anticipated Argo, in which he’s also the director of. Although the actor just welcomed son Samuel Garner Affleck into the world not too long ago, Affleck is already looking into the future and has landed Runner, Runner, a gambling thriller opposite Justin Timberlake.
The gambling thriller sets Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake in the world of illegal online gambling. It is not certain what roles the two will have, but the film seems promising, with Brian Koppelman and David Levien behind the project. The two also penned famous thrillers like Rounders, Runaway Jury, and Oceans Eleven.
Brad Furman signed on to direct, and this will be his second chance to prove himself as a director of the thriller genre. His big vehicle last year was The Lincoln Lawyer with Ryan Philippee and Matthew Mcconaughey. If that’s not enough to seal the deal, Leonardo DiCaprio is listed as producer on the film as well.
There’s no word on what this means for Justin Timberlake’s music career, which has been on hold since 2006. Late February rumors sparked when Timberlake addressed the future of his musical pursuits, stating, “I have not retired from music. I am unemployed right now and that is very dangerous. It gets hard to motivate yourself to do anything besides golf.”
