Sting fans can now drink wine that the musician makes with his very own music.
“I sing in the cellar. I like to think the wine’s taken it in.”
Sting and Trudie Styler have improved the 16th Century Il Palagio vineyard since 1999 and now boast a quality assortment of bottles for the public to buy at reasonable prices. It may or may not have something to do with Sting singing to his wine bottles in the cellar, but there is no doubt that the married pair take their business seriously.
Sting did promote the wine during one of his recent interviews on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon .
A blend of Sangiovese, Syrah, and Merlot with a complex aroma mix of cherries, wild blackberries and spices goes by the name, Message In A Bottle, a nod to Sting’s hit with The Police.
Recently, Sting noted that he credits his long-lasting marriage to the fact that he and Trudie still “like each other” and share common interests. Wine-making and experimenting with their vineyard is one of the passions that the couple has taken on in recent years.
Giving credit to the professional staff of Il Palagio, Trudie says that Sting and her are just “enthusiastic amateurs.” Even though the couple have been working hard for 20 years on their vineyard, they are humble about their endeavor in wine-making.
Sting, however, does take great joy in sharing his bottles of wine with friends who know about wine and seeing them enjoy the new blends.
“Of course they look skeptical when we tell them about it, but it’s nice to see that skepticism shrink when they taste and realize it really is a good wine – that’s a great pleasure.”
The Inquisitr reported on other aspects of Sting’s down-to-Earth, noting that the singer enjoys going for walks . It seems making wine also adds to the music legend’s pursuit of “Zen” moments in his life.
Recently, top chef Raymond Blanc served Sting’s wine at a celebrity yacht party and felt his guests, which included Jamie and Louise Redknapp, Piers Morgan, and Will.i.am, enjoyed the bottles. He served the When We Dance Chianti 2013 Tenuta Il Palagio at the party to satisfied guests.
Other bottles of the Sting wine are named When We Dance and Sister Moon. The Tuscan vineyard makes red and white varieties of wine with the expertise of staff that have worked at the vineyard for over 50 years.
Sting and Trudie transformed the declining vineyard with the help of biodynamic wine consultant Alan York.
Including tourist-friendly options to be a “farmer for a day” at Il Palagio, Sting has transformed the Tuscan estate into a beautiful destination for wine lovers, too.
