Bobby Jindal’s Presidential Announcement Video Is New Source Of Ridicule
While Bobby Jindal’s announcement that he was getting into an already crowded GOP presidential field was met by celebration in some sectors, there are also plenty of people who think Bobby Jindal entered the race in the worst way possible. In particular, Bobby Jindal’s announcement video seemed to show that the Louisiana Governor’s own family is only slightly on board with his candidacy.
While there have been some rather odd presidential campaign announcement videos in the past, this one showing Bobby Jindal talking to his family in their backyard was met with special derision by the likes of Jon Stewart because of how earnest it was meant to look.
As Jon Stewart said in his critiquing of the Bobby Jindal announcement video, “I believe your campaign may be in trouble when you cannot carry a majority of your immediate family.”
Of course, when it comes to Bobby Jindal’s announcement, the importance behind the candidacy isn’t that his own kids seemed less than thrilled that he was getting into the race. The governor has a following stemming from conservative Republicans that could eventually make him someone who is sought after when it comes to his endorsement. Bobby Jindal is one who could lead the charge against Obamacare, and he would almost certainly lead the charge to repeal it if he could get elected.
The question, among many conservatives, is whether or not he can actually get elected. Bobby Jindal recently penned an editorial that lays out his objection to the Supreme Court ruling. In that editorial, the governor notes there is a chance that conservatives can still win that fight, “but in order to win, we conservatives first have to play. That means outlining our alternative vision for health care: How we would restore freedom and choice to a health care sector currently lacking for both — and most importantly, how we would slow, and hopefully reverse, the trend of skyrocketing healthcare costs.”
When it comes to playing with the Democrats, a video that actually left a part where the kids are more impressed with a turtle that shows up in their yard than their father running sends an interesting message. Now the Republicans are going to have to decide whether they want to align themselves with someone who cannot get his kids excited about his candidacy or go in another direction altogether.
