Joni Mitchell Is ‘Not Speaking Yet,’ Says David Crosby
As the Inquisitr previously reported, legendary singer Joni Mitchell was hospitalized back in March of this year after she was found unconscious in her Los Angeles home. Doctors concluded that Mitchell collapsed after suffering a brain aneurysm. At the time, one source had described Mitchell’s condition as “very serious,” while another said that she had been “communicating.”
“Speech is difficult, but she’s communicating.”
Months after her hospitalization, Joni Mitchell is still recovering, according to her good friend David Crosby. While speaking to the Huffington Post, Crosby was asked about Mitchell’s health and if he had spoken to her since the incident happened. Crosby replied that he has not spoken to her, but he responded with what he knows so far.
“To my knowledge, she is not speaking yet. She is home, she is in care, [and] she is recovering. How that’s going to go, we don’t know yet.”
Crosby continued by saying Joni Mitchell “had an aneurysm,” and it took some time before she was found unconscious and paramedics were called.
“She’s going to have to struggle back from it the way you struggle back from a traumatic brain injury.”
Crosby then said Mitchell is “a tough girl and very smart,” but he didn’t want to take any guesses on how long she’ll be out and how much she’ll recover from the aneurysm.
“How much she’s going to come back and when, I don’t know, and I’m not going to guess.”
But Crosby did say that those who know Joni Mitchell are praying for her recovery.
“She’s probably the best of us, probably the greatest living singer-songwriter… I think we’re all holding our breath and thinking a good thought – hoping that it’s going to turn out OK.”
Joni Mitchell’s official website hasn’t offered an update on the singer’s condition since late April. At the time of that post, the website claimed that Mitchell would make a “full recovery,” but there was no mention of how long it might take.
After her aneurysm, a dedication page was set up for fans to send well wishes to Joni Mitchell. The website, We Love You Joni, allows Facebook users to leave a comment directly on the page. There is also the hashtag #WeLoveYouJoni for those who want to post their thoughts on Twitter.
