‘Scream Queens’ Casts ‘Buffy’ Alum To Play Ariana Grande’s Mom, Rumored Premiere Date
The upcoming horror comedy Scream Queens has added a new member to its cast as the show gears up for its first full season. According to Deadline, Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum Charisma Carpenter is set to play a big role in the new series.
Although details are still forthcoming, Carpenter will be playing the mother of Ariana Grande’s character in the series. For her part, Carpenter is known for a number of different TV roles, which include parts in Sons of Anarchy, The Lying Game, Greek, Supernatural, Veronica Mars, and hosing ID’s Surviving Evil.
Scream Queens revolves around the story of a college campus that is hit with a string of cruel murders. Starring alongside Carpenter in Scream Queens is Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele, Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Nick Jonas, Lea Michele, and Keke Palmer.
While fans will have to wait a few more months before getting their first taste of the new show, creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, along with Curtis, recently screened the pilot episode for a number of journalists. With that in mind, there are a number of things to look forward to in the upcoming series.
According to E! Online, the first episode of Scream Queens features a lot of Emma Roberts, which is definitely a good thing. Between the actress’ weird ticks and verbal back and forth with Curtis, she really stole the show in the pilot. If her performance moving forward is anything like it is in the opening, then the series is definitely off to a great start.
Although the series centers on a string of grisly murders, it is a comedy at heart. Besides Nick Jonas being utterly hilarious in the first episode, there are plenty of moments in the pilot that will leave fans laughing uncontrollably.
Meanwhile, Lea Michele does a great job with her character, Hester, despite not speaking a single line throughout the entire episode. Although Hester doesn’t say anything, and instead just walks around in a neck brace offering up a slew of facial expressions, her character still manages to make a mark in the first episode.
Lastly, the opening episode really does a good job at pulling the audience into the ridiculous and over-the-top world. Apart from the whole murder plot, the series has dynamic sets, and its characters are well developed and stunning in their own right.
Scream Queens is expected to hit the air September 22 on Fox.
