Rumors are often nothing but rumors, especially in the wrestling world. A couple of weeks ago, there were rumors that the Dudley Boyz would be heading back to WWE, but it looks as if that won’t be happening. Rumors now are floating around that former World Champion Bully Ray is actually heading back to TNA.
According to WrestleZone , Bully Ray has actually been backstage at this week’s TNA Impact Wrestling television tapings. It is expected that he will make his return to the company on Friday evening.
This past week alone, there have been a number of huge returns to TNA, including Jeff Jarrett, Matt Morgan, Vader, and Hernandez . There is no word on how long all of them will be with the company, but a return by Bully Ray could be even bigger.
There have been a ton of hints in the past few weeks that WWE was aiming toward a return of the Dudley Boyz to the company. Luke Harper and Erick Rowaan reunited and started using the 3D (The Way) as their finishing maneuver.
Bully Ray and Harper then had a number of Twitter exchanges with a lot of fighting words, suggesting that there could be a match between the two teams at SummerSlam . Well, with Rowan injured and out for a few months, that feud looks to be have thrown out the window for now.
Back in May, Bully Ray appeared on TNA Impact Wrestling to be a guest referee, but there was never anything more to it. PW Insider is saying that this next return will be one that is on a larger scale than a one-night deal for Bully Ray.
There’s no word on a Devon return.
Some are confused as to what TNA may be doing. A number of talents have been concerned that the company may be going under, and it seemed even more likely once rumors started that big contracts expiring soon (such as Austin Aries) may not be renewed.
On the other hand, TNA is bringing back a lot of big-name talent , and chances are these names won’t come cheap.
More will be known by the time Friday night’s TNA Impact Wrestling tapings are over, but it does indeed look like Bully Ray is back and won’t be going to WWE. At 43, this could possibly take away any chance of Bubba Ray Dudley ever being back in WWE.
