In the statement, Roselyn Sanchez declared she is proud of her Latin roots, her culture, and everything Latin people have contributed to the USA, adding that she could not tolerate Trump’s “disrespectful and hurtful” words, reports Us Weekly.
“I was very excited and proud to have been invited to participate in Miss USA, but as a Latina, that is now inconceivable,” Roselyn Sanchez said in a written statement. “Although I am not Mexican, I am Puerto Rican and a proud Latina, and his comments were an insult to our culture. I won’t sponsor anything produced by Donald Trump.”
“It seems incredible that in his speech to announce his candidacy, has had that lapse of intelligence and decency. Mexicans, like all Latinos, contribute positively to this great nation. We are the force that keeps the country afloat. I was very excited and grateful for the opportunity to serve as co-host of this great event in which many Latinas have shown, but more excited I have loyalty to my people. Enough of racism and ‘influential’ people belittling us. Univision, thanks for having me and for honoring your audience and cutting relationship with everything that has to do with Trump,” Sanchez continued in her statement about her decision to withdraw from hosting the Miss USA pageant, reports E! News.
Echoing Roselyn’s feelings, performing artist Ricky Martin had something to say to Trump via Twitter, telling the Celebrity Apprentice star, “There’s much hatred and ignorance in your heart @realDonaldTrump.”
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Roselyn Sanchez joins fellow ex co-host Cristian de la Fuente, who also refuses to host the Miss USA pageant because of Trump’s statement. Cristian released a video explaining his decision to pull out of the Miss USA pageant.
“It is unacceptable to launch a presidential candidacy created on a rhetoric of hatred and discrimination in calling Mexicans drug dealers and rapists. It is a shame that such an important institution as Miss USA is in the hands of a clown,” said de la Fuente in his video statement, echoing Roselyn’s feelings.
I love Mexico but not the unfair trade deals that the US so stupidly makes with them. Really bad for US jobs, only good for Mexico.

Trump responded to the negative publicity on Thursday, tweeting, “Mexican gov doesn’t want me talking about terrible border situation & horrible trade deals. Forcing Univision to get me to stop – no way!…Univision wants to back out of signed @MissUniverse contract because I exposed the terrible trade deals that the U.S. makes with Mexico… I love Mexico but not the unfair trade deals that the US so stupidly makes with them. Really bad for US jobs, only good for Mexico.”
