Peter Dinklage Unleashes His Mullet And Takes On Pac-Man In ‘Pixels’ Movie [Video]
It seems that every time we turn around, actor Peter Dinklage is waging a war against someone. In his latest movie, Pixels, it is aliens. However, in the past, we have seen Dinklage pitting himself against his own family in Game of Thrones. In X-Men: Days of Future Past, he is battling against mutants. Knights of Badassdom saw him battling a demon summoned up via an ancient book. Heck, he even starred in a movie entitled The Angriest Man in Brooklyn.
In Pixels, Peter Dinklage stars as Eddie Plant (A.K.A. “The Fire Blaster”). Here’s the IMDb synopsis for Pixels.
“As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real. In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults — and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.”
Alongside Peter Dinklage, the cast of Pixels also includes Adam Sandler (Grown Ups, The Wedding Singer), Sean Bean (Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings), Kevin James (The King of Queens, Paul Blart: Mall Cop), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), Ashley Benson (Pretty Little Liars), Josh Gad (The Comedians), and Jane Krakowski (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt). Pixels is directed by Chris Columbus from a screenplay by Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling. According to Slash Film, Pixels is based on Patrick Jean’s short film Pixels: Retro Gamers (2010). Pixels: Retro Gamers told the story of 80s video game characters attacking New York City.
From the video included, Peter Dinklage and the rest of the cast discuss Dinklage’s character, Eddie Plant. Topics of conversation include Plant’s mullet, his tattoos (Peter Dinklage has grown to love them, even though they are not as pretty as the tattoos popular today), his large ego, and taking the sleeves off every outfit belonging to Eddie Plant. Costume designer Christine Wada also discusses just how quickly Peter Dinklage’s Pixels character came together. She credits the fact Dinklage’s character remained stuck in the past as the reason why. Peter Dinklage seems to have a blast playing Eddie Plant in Sony’s upcoming Pixels movie. In the video, you can see him drinking, smart mouthing, and taking on Pac-Man.
Pixels starring Peter Dinklage arrives in theaters July 24, 2015, and in the UK on August 12, 2015.
