Justin Bieber has returned to No. 1 on Billboard’s Social 50, as “Where Are Ü Now” moves into the Top 15 on Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart.
The song is a collaboration between Bieber and EDM titans, Diplo and Skrillex, collectively known as Jack Ü. The trio’s single rises one spot from last week to No. 15.
Billboard reports the song’s ascent “marks Skrillex’s first career Top 15 hit , Diplo’s first Top 15 hit as a credited artist and Bieber’s first Top 15 hit since 2013.” Currently, it’s at No. 12 on Billboard’s Digital Songs, No. 21 on Radio Songs, and is now No. 12 on the Streaming Songs subchart.

On the brand’s Social 50 chart, Bieber shifts up one slot to No. 1, which he hasn’t topped since November 29, 2014.
The Social 50 is based on data tracked by the music analytics company Next Big Sound. They rank the most popular artists across leading social media platforms, including Vine, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Instagram, and Tumblr. Criteria ranges from followers, fans, likes, to artist page views and interactions.
The Social 50 chart is particularly susceptible to any given artist’s real life activity, as this generates social media hits and — especially in the case of big name artists — results in media coverage.
Bieber spent last weekend doing the rounds at the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, as well as sitting ringside to watch the welterweight showdown between Adrien Broner and Shawn Porter.
Over the weekend, the 21-year-old heartthrob was seen in numerous selfies during Avicii’s set at the Encore Beach Club with Orange Is The New Black’s newest star — Ruby Rose . She was in town for the EDM festival. Bieber also performed a surprise cameo of “Where Are Ü Now” at an afternoon pool party at a hotel beach club on Saturday, June 20.
Hours later, Bieber hit the drums on stage to warm up for Chris Brown at Drai’s nightclub at The Cromwell hotel in Sin City. The next night, the Canadian singer considerably upped the ante by surprising the Encore XS nightclub crowd where Kaskade dropped a set.
The Biebs jumped on stage during “Where” for a vibe-up to Kaskade’s remix of the single.
According to Next Big Sound, Bieber’s weekend exploits triggered an 132 percent spike in Twitter “mentions,” over 28 million Likes to posts on Instagram, which prompted more than 767,000 new followers on the photo-sharing site during the week ending in June 21.
That’s some serious social media heft. Hence Justin Bieber’s No. 1 status.
