Boko Haram: Female Suicide Bomber Kills At Least 10, Injures 20 In Nigeria
At least 10 people were killed and more than 20 were injured when a young female suicide bomber launched an attack in a market on Tuesday in north-east Nigeria. This was reportedly the second attack of this nature in the last 24 hours and both attacks were launched by female suicide bombers.
According to IOL, the attack reportedly bears all the hallmarks of the militant Islamist group Boko Haram, which has been stepping up such attacks in various towns and cities since losing a large area in the north-east since the beginning of this year.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly vowed to crush the Boko Haram insurgency and has apparently accepted an invitation to visit Cameroon President Paul Biya in an effort to intensify the joint fight against the terrorist group in the region.

The latest attack by a female suicide bomber happened at around 11am local time Tuesday in a market in Gujba. The town was apparently taken back from the Islamist group earlier in the year, when the Nigerian military, with support from Cameroon, Chad and Niger, went on the offensive.
As reported on the BBC, Boko Haram has killed thousands of people during its six-year attacks in north-east Nigeria and just 24 hours before, yet another female suicide bomber hit a market in Maiduguru. That attack killed at least 20 people.

In the latest attack, Hussani Ibrahim, a driver who assisted in transporting 23 injured to a local hospital from the latest attack, said he saw the female suicide bomber, who was apparently “a small girl of not more than 12 years.” Ibrahim said he counted over 10 people that were dead.

In the last few weeks, Buhari has spearheaded talks with his counterparts in the surrounding countries, and plans are to set up a regional force to tackle the insurgency from Boko Haram.
According to Buhari’s spokesman, Femi Adesina, Cameroon’s president has already made assurances of “brotherly commitment” in working against the insurgency. The president has also promised to offer “special assistance” to the other three north-eastern states worst hit by Boko Haram.
Meanwhile as reported on the Inquisitr, a Boko Haram commander was among 30 killed in a gun battle recently with the Nigerian army.
