Marge And Homer Speak Out About Possible Split On ‘The Simpsons’: Must-See Video
Marge and Homer aren’t splitting up — and the Simpsons themselves posted a YouTube video to squelch the notorious rumors. In an animated video, released on the Animation Domination YouTube channel, the Simpsons address their detractors publicly in an attempt to stop rumors of the impending demise of their marriage, reports MSN.
Seated next to each other holding hands, the Simpsons face the camera, and Marge begins.
“Homie and I are here to address baseless rumors that we are going to split up. The story was first reported on CNN, then the real news started reporting it all over the world … “
Homer, at first oblivious about the rumors, tells us that if the Simpsons didn’t split when he slept with the doughnut girl, they sure won’t split up now. Homer later interjects with, “Marjorie and I are solid as a rock!”
The Simpsons then start bickering like, well, an old married couple, before taking yet another shot at CNN.
As previously reported by the Inquisitr, news about a possible Simpsons divorce emerged when it was announced that “Homer would fall in love with guest star Lena Dunham, who plays a pharmacist, and separate from Marge in the season opener of The Simpsons.”
The rumors all began when The Simpsons’ executive producer, Al Jean, said, in an interview with Variety, “In the premiere [of the Simpsons], it’s discovered after all the years, Homer has narcolepsy and it’s an incredible strain on the marriage. [The Simpsons] legally separate, and Homer falls in love with his pharmacist, who’s voiced by Lena Dunham.”
As reported by USA Today, the Simpsons might separate for a while during Season 27, but, as the video shows, the Simpsons “would like to inform you that they are stronger than ever, and will be together forever.”
While Season 27 won’t be the end of the Simpsons’ marriage, it might be the end of Harry Shearer’s long tenure on the show. Fellow cast member Hank Azaria let fans know, however, that he’s trying to keep The Simpsons cast together.
“You know, I wouldn’t necessarily say he’s gone,” he said in a statement to The Simpsons fans, reports the International Business Times. “We’re very hopeful that something gets worked out. I’m not giving up on this.”
While much isn’t known about the reasons Shearer is leaving The Simpsons, although it’s been hinted that he doesn’t want to accept the same contract the rest of the cast, including Azaria, accepted. While rumors float around that money was getting in the way of keeping him on The Simpsons, Shearer tweeted his reasons, which reveal that he wanted freedom to do other projects besides The Simpsons.
