Plus-Size Model Crystal Renn Shows Off Slimmer Frame
Crystal Renn was once a size double zero. Then she was a size 16 and worked as a plus-size model. The 25-year-old will be changing job titles once again as she appeared at the 9th Annual Spring Dinner Dance, New Year’s In April, in New York with a much slimmer frame and is now being billed as a “former plus-size model.”
Renn said that she decided to lose weight because she was having a “gemini moment” and was looking for a change. Renn told Fashionista:
“It’s so interesting because I think it’s the last thing people would expect me to do-which is exactly why I did it. Besides, I was having a Gemini moment… It means that you can get bored and you want a bit of a change. So I would say besides having projects in the works, that I wanted something new myself so I decided to keep it.”
The International Business Times reports that Renn once stood at just 95-pounds and suffered from anorexia. Renn put on 70 pounds and became a very successful plus-size model. Renn said that her most recent weight loss puts her in a comfortable, healthy, and stable position.
Renn’s agent said:
“She reintroduced exercise back into her life after finally feeling she was ready to. Hiking and yoga are part of her life now. She is healthy and feels amazing right now.”
Renn said that the modeling world is getting better in regard to promoting healthy looking women, but that there’s still room for improvement. Renn said:
“There’s a woman at SI who’s made it a point to make sure that the models are healthy. They’re not interested in who’s the thinnest model of them all, they’re about the girl. We all have different bodies. There’s not one type that’s idealized. I’d love to see [the fashion industry] open their eyes to the variety of women. That variety is what’s beautiful.”
