Taylor Schilling Injury: ‘OITNB’ Star Has Less Fun Filming Sex Scenes Than Mindy Kaling

Taylor Schilling’s injury during a sex scene proves that prison hanky-panky is just as rough as you’d imagine it to be (if you’re into imagining that sort of thing). After her scary sex scene experience, the Orange is the New Black star should definitely be envying The Mindy Project actress Mindy Kaling — Mindy has a lot more fun pretending to get it on with her co-stars.

Taylor Schilling’s injury happened while she was shooting a steamy Season 3 scene with Orange is the New Black co-star Laura Prepon. Cosmopolitan UK describes the scene in question between Piper (Schilling) and Alex (Prepon) as an “angry sex-fight.” However, according to People, Laura Prepon wasn’t responsible for Taylor Schilling’s injury — Taylor actually managed to hurt herself after getting a little overzealous during their lovemaking scene.

“I hurt myself. I got very excited, I took my shirt off, and I scratched myself with my little name tag,” Schilling recently told talk show host Seth Meyer. “There was a gash on my face, there was blood.”

Taylor elaborated on her OITNB injury during her Cosmo interview.

“I scratched myself. You can see that, it was awful. I gouged my chin with the tag and we had to add the scar into the rest of the season.”

Schilling told Seth Meyer that shooting sex scenes can be “weird” and awkward, and apparently they can also be pretty dangerous. Many actresses would likely agree with Schilling, but not Mindy Kaling — she has a blast having fake coitus with her hot male co-stars. In her new book, Why Not Me?, Mindy makes a candid confession about shooting sex scenes. According to the Washington Post, she actually titles an entire chapter “I Love Sex Scenes!” Kaling also claims that other celebrities are lying when they say that they hate having pretend sex with their costars.

“Obviously onscreen sex is not actual penetrative sex, but, as any religious high schooler will tell you, simulating sex can be pretty damn enjoyable as well.”

Mindy Kaling goes on to write that she actually enjoys having crew members around while she crawls around in bed with her co-stars, and she explains that many stars feign their dislike of sex scenes because they have significant others who might get jealous.

Mindy would probably have a blast filming lovemaking scenes with Jason Momoa — as the Inquisitr previously reported, he once tried to make a sex scene with Game of Thrones co-star Emilia Clarke a little more interesting by covering up his little Momoa with a fluffy pink sock.

Mindy needs to treat Taylor Schilling’s injury anecdote as a cautionary tale about what can happen when you get a little too into a sex scene, and she needs to realize that sex scene injuries are a real problem in Hollywood. According to People, Kate Upton gave The Other Woman co-star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau a baseball-sized bruise by spanking him too hard during a steamy scene. And during an interview with Glamour, Dakota Johnson revealed that Jamie Dornan gave her whiplash by throwing her on a bed during a Fifty Shades of Grey sex scene.

At least Taylor Schilling can take comfort in knowing that she’s not alone when it comes to getting beat up while simulating sex, and it will probably only be a matter of time before Mindy Kaling joins the club.
