In ‘The Flash’ Season 2, Cisco Set To Become A Powerful New Superhero

The Flash ended with a powerfully destructive black hole that threatened to suck away a city and then some. Though Barry Allen attempted to save everything, there’s no telling whether the Flash is yet capable of such a task until Season 2 shows the outcome.

But with a little help from another capable friend, one who recently discovered he is a metahuman, perhaps he could do it. And standing by the Flash’s side, Cisco Ramon has a lot more to offer the Flash than we think.

When Dr. Wells mentioned that Cisco, too, was affected by particle accelerator radiation in The Flash season finale, he was alluding to what is inevitable to evolve in future episodes. Cisco was able to access visions of what had happened in an alternate reality, knowing that Reverse-Flash had killed him. But that isn’t the extent of his power, it’s just the beginning.

In the comics, Cisco Ramon is known as Vibe. He presents one of the few capable enough to hold his own against the Flash, possessing the power to create shock waves, harness interdimensional travel abilities, and disrupt the Speed Force, the force which powers DC’s speedier superheroes and many of those related to the Flash, so it is in the Flash’s best interest to keep him on his side.

In the comics, Vibe played a somewhat integral role in the superhero supergroup Justice League of America. The Justice League hoped to utilize him in case they ever needed to stop the Flash. There’s no telling how this will play out in The Flash TV series.

In an interview with DC Comics, actor Carlos Valdes spoke peripherally about whether his character’s alter ego will come forth anytime soon on The Flash.

“Even though we know that Caitlin Snow becomes Killer Frost and Cisco Ramon will potentially become Vibe, that’s not really our concern right now. Our concern is giving life to these characters and giving them an independent storyline before these super powers, so that if and when these personalities are imbued with these powers, it means that much more. It carries a completely different significance because of that back story.”

But how much backstory do you need? Isn’t one season enough? We’ve gotten to know Ramon’s intellectual capabilities quite well this past season. Now it’s time to see his superpowers. The Flash cast and crew aren’t giving us comic fans any easy answers. If and when Vibe comes about, and whether he will still be helping the Flash or trying to contain him, remains to be seen.
