‘The Flash’ Season 2 Gets New Heroes, A New Partner For Joe, And Some Major Surprises In Store [Spoilers]

As Season 1 of The Flash ended, fans were left with several mysteries. The first was with the death of Eddie Thawne, a detective and Joe’s partner. With his death, did his descendant, Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse Flash, really cease to exist? Joe now is without a partner, and so who will be his partner next? [International Business Times]

Comicbook.com reported that audition videos were being used to find a new partner for Joe. The surprise comes from the DC Universe, by the name of Patty Spivot. In the original comics, Patty is a blood expert and the assistant to Barry Allen, a.k.a. the Flash. In the series she is slated to become Joe’s new partner.

Now that Eobard Thawne, a.k.a. the Reverse Flash, is gone, who will Barry’s next nemesis be? Thawne and Barry had a complex relationship during the first season as the Reverse Flash and The Flash, and Thawne was revealed to be Barry’s mother’s killer. The possibility exists that Thawne will return again, possibly as a result of the black hole opening over Central City. Although the Reverse Flash has been defeated and Eobard Thawne has ceased to exist, Tom Cavanaugh will return next season.

Eddie’s death left a void for Iris too because they had been together for a long time. Barry still has a thing for her, and now that she is single, what will happen to their relationship? Will they finally connect in The Flash Season 2 or will Barry have a new love interest? Andrew Kriesberg had the following to say in Entertainment Weekly.

“Iris has been with Eddie for a long time and they were living together. [Eddie] didn’t just die, he died to save her. Obviously, Iris is going to be dealing with that,” Kreisberg said. “Barry is going to be dealing with the fact that all Barry has ever wanted to do is protect Iris, and in the end it was Eddie who got to do it.”

A black hole opened over Central City pulling the city into a multiverse. Now that the portal is open, who will we see return in the next season? What surprises does the multiverse promise Team Flash?

The Flash also promises a host of new super heroes too. One possibility that exists is Captain Atom. Although not involved in the same accident as the Flash, his experience was very similar in that he received his powers as the result of a freak accident. Not to be confused with the Atom of the DC Comics, Captain Atom Nathaniel Adams has a military history, and his powers allow him to manipulate all forms of energy. [Cinema Blend]

Another potential choice is the Commander Steel/Citizen Steel, all strong men from the Heywood family. Their abilities include superhuman strength and speed.

Although the death of Eddie and the destruction of Eobard Thawne will have a huge impact on the timeline of Central City and the Flash too, Barry’s mother is unlikely to return.
