The Plot Of ‘Wolverine 3’ May Have Finally Been Revealed — Will We See Old Man Logan?
Hugh Jackman has already said that he will likely don the claws for the last full-time in Wolverine 3 (working title), and that’s to be expected. At 47-years-old, he says it’s time to hand the character over to someone else. As of now, not much is known about the film, but a rumor is flying around that fans may finally get to see the “Old Man Logan” story arc from Mark Millar.
According to SlashFilm, details are still very much under wraps on Wolverine 3, but rumors are swirling.
It appears as if El Mayimbe of Heroic Hollywood dropped the rumor of “Old Man Logan” first and made sure to say it is not concrete yet.
“It’s a rumor, not confirmed,” said Mayimbe. “I’m still looking into it.”
The “Old Man Logan” storyline is one written by Mark Millar and drawn by Steve McNiven. Marvel ran it for eight issues back over 2008 and 2009, and it tells of a dystopian future in which supervillains run the free world after wiping out almost all superheroes.
Logan had given up the Wolverine persona long before after some seriously traumatic things in his life. He’s a family man who has a wife and kids and even needs money for bills, so he takes a job delivering a mysterious package for a now-blind Hawkeye.
Throughout this mission, Logan has to look deep inside him and remember what Wolverine used to be like.
If this were to happen for Wolverine 3 and Hugh Jackman did take on the role of “Old Man Logan,” it would not only be awesome but a fitting end to this cinematic journey. It would also need a lot of work and tweaking to make it happen.
Let’s not forget that 20th Century Fox has the rights to Wolverine and the X-Men, but Hawkeye is a member of The Avengers. No one is unaware that Marvel/Disney still have that franchise and keep it close to the vest.
That’s only one small hurdle and bigger ones do exist, but the film could end up working. Fans have long wanted this storyline brought to life on the big screen, and it would seem really appropriate to have Jackman in the role before anyone else.
Deadpool has wrapped filming and X-Men: Apocalypse is filming, so Jackman appearing in one or both of those films is still possible too.
Hugh Jackman may be just about done with the claws and swooped-up hair, but Wolverine 3 still needs to be ironed out and filmed. The plot for the film is rumored as “Old Man Logan,” but that’s far from confirmed. Now, fans are simply hoping it will be.
